Mindfulness & Meditation
There are a variety of meditation apps that you can download to your smartphone through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These apps are great as they allow you to easily access guided practices of mindfulness and meditation wherever you are in your day.
Calm and Headspace – Both have free starter programs. Focused meditation for sleep, pain, anxiety etc. are available with subscription.
Waking Up with Sam Harris – “A guide to understanding the mind, for the purpose of living a more balanced and fulfilling life.”
Smiling mind – This is a great app for teens and adolescents.
Insight timer – Similar to Calm and Headspace, but with a largest library of free guided meditations.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, is widely known for his expertise on mindfulness and meditation. He is the author of numerous books including Full Catastrophe Living, Wherever You Go There You Are, Coming to Our Senses and The Healing Power of Mindfulness.
