This test measures the health of your muscle. By inserting a fine, sterile needle into the muscle, the needle can record signals. Dr. Inkpen is able to listen to the sounds and interpret the data to see if your muscles have a normal response.
Nerve Conduction Studies
This test measures the response of your nerves to minor impulses. Electrodes are placed on your skin, and an electrical stimulus is applied. The electrodes transmit your nerve’s response. The aim is to determine if there is an injury, where it is, what kind of injury it is, and the severity.
Dr. Inkpen has pioneered a revolutionary method of peripheral nerve ultrasound to offer a high-resolution view of what’s really happening beneath your skin. We use ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in patients with symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, for example, to detect not just the presence and severity of nerve damage but also its form and causes. With more information about what’s causing nerve damage, we can give patients an individualized treatment plan.
